Man found dead in Liverpool alley believed to be from Southport

A man was found in an alley in Liverpool and is believed to be from Southport.

Officers were called at 8.35am on Thursday after a call raising concern about the safety of the man in a side street near Clayton Square in Liverpool.

A post-mortem is going to be conducted to establish the man’s cause of death yet police are treating it as not suspicious. A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “At this time the death is being treated as unexplained.”

The scene was cordoned off for examination from the junction of Leigh Street and Parker Street to Houghton Lane’s junction and Houghton Street.
