February 4th, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments Lord Ronnie Fearn celebrates 50 years as a Southport Councillor This month marks an amazing milestone in Southport’s political history. In May 1963 a young Ronnie Fearn was first elected as a councillor on what was then the Southport County Borough Council. In those days the Liberals ran the council. Lord Ronnie Fearn has served Southport continuously as a councillor ever since. He has been Leader of the Group, Member of Parliament (twice), and he is now a member of the House of Lords. Southport Liberal Democrats held a celebration at the Auberge Brasserie in Southport. The picture above shows Ronnie and Joyce having received a cut glass rose bowl in recognition of his service. Cllr Iain Brodie Browne, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Sefton Council, said “By any measure Ronnie Fearn is the most successful Southport politician of his generation.
