Fletchers Solicitors has been identified as inspiring the nation in a landmark report published by the London Stock Exchange Group.

The report – 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain – looks for the first time at the most exciting and dynamic small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country and celebrates their success. Companies were assessed on their ability to outperform their sector average, notably in terms of revenue growth in at least three of the last four years and growth of other kinds, such as numbers of employees and contracts.

The 1,000 organisations named in the report are held up as examples of the type of companies which are driving the UK forward through growth and job creation and which are seen as the lifeblood of the country’s economy.

Data was compiled by looking at the performance and activity of millions of businesses. Around 100 industry sectors are featured, with Fletchers Solicitors one of only six law practices to be included. Companies come from all UK regions, with Fletchers joining 108 other organisations based in the North West of England.

It was in November 1987 that Fletchers Solicitors was formed in Southport with nine members of staff. Since then, the company has developed a reputation as one of the best in the business when it comes to dealing with personal injury and medical negligence claims. Today there are almost 150 people working for the organisation, reflecting the growth of the business and the success it has enjoyed.

Ed Fletcher, CEO of Fletchers, said: “We are immensely proud to have been named as one of the 1,000 companies to inspire Britain and with around 4.5 million SMEs in this country it’s no mean feat to have been included.

“Our philosophy has always been to do our very best for the victims of serious injury and medical negligence. This determination and the hard work of our employees has enabled us to get to where we are today. To have been recognised by the London Stock Exchange Group in this way is a reflection of the progress we have made and we look forward to achieving further success in the future.”

Xavier Rolet, London Stock Exchange Group CEO, said: “In this report we have not attempted to emulate other rankings of fast-growing SMEs. Instead, we have expanded the number of companies beyond the normal 100 or so to 1,000 and focussed on metrics beyond short-term revenue and profit growth.

“The list is not exhaustive but it shines a light on some of the UK’s most vibrant companies. While the UK is not back to full economic strength, these 1,000 companies are proof of all that the country has to offer.”

Other companies listed include Mulberry and Aardman Animations.
