WLMGOC Last Mid-Month 2016.

Thursday 1st of September took West Lancs MG Owners Club to the Hesketh Arms on Botanic Rd Churchtown on the B5244.

As one of the longest established pubs in the area, locals have enjoyed coming to the Hesketh Arms (previously known as the Black Bull) for over 200 years. Overlooking the grounds of 12th century Meols Hall, it is also very close to the Botanic Gardens.

With autumn just around the corner and the leaves already starting to fall this is our last mid-month meeting of the year where the members meet at different pubs throughout the year to have a spin out in the MG’s and have a bite to eat and a drink in the great outdoors (subject to weather) before the winter sets in.

Altogether 26 members turned up bringing with them 14 MG’s the car park was quite full and we where separated with cars here and there and after a little juggling about we all managed to secure a car parking space and the line up was 4 MGF’s, 2 MGB’s, 3 MGTF’s, 1 MGB-GT, 1 Midget, 1 Magnette, 1 1954 TF and 1 recently purchased MGZT V6.

As most of us got there by 7pm the weather for the evening was kind to us yet again and although a little grey and overcast it stayed dry and warm with most of the members staying out in the car park chatting all night way into darkness.

The usual suspects (most) of the lady members after a short chat outside took refuge in the warm comfortable surroundings of the pub with just one or two chatting with the men outside all night!

And so by 10pm it was time to make tracks and bid farewell to our last mid-month of the year.

W.L.MG.O.C would like to thank the Hesketh Arms and the staff for a warm and friendly welcome and for anyone who’s thinking of visiting the Hesketh Arms the website can be seen here. http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/content/vintage-inn/en/restaurants/north-west/thehesketharmschurchtown

So although the days are getting shorter we still have one or two more shows and social/cultural events to attend this year before the chilly days and the dark wet nights of autumn/winter really do set in.

We would also like to thank jerry are organiser for coordinating the mid-month events this past year and are already looking forward to next years offerings.

If you like socialising and car runs whilst having a bit of fun with like minded people and have a classic car you would be most welcome to join the W.L.MG.O.C we meet every third Thursday 8.00pmat Briars Hall Lathom or check out our Facebook page (West Lancs MG Owners) or even have a look at are website www.westlancsmg.co.uk
