Liverpool ONE has smashed its own records this weekend after recording the busiest retail day in its history since it opened in 2008.

Saturday 30 November saw an 4.5% increase in visitors to the retail and leisure destination in the heart of Liverpool City Centre, marking a growth in sales of around 9% compared to the same Saturday in 2012.
The bumper weekend not only saw an uplift in sales of popular goods such as clothing, toys and jewellery but a significant increase in visits to its Ice Festival on Chavasse Park and a rise in visits to Liverpool ONE’s extensive number of restaurants.

With just four weeks to go until Christmas Day, Estate Director Chris Bliss said he was confident the retailers are experiencing a successful Christmas at Liverpool ONE.

Chris Bliss said: “Like the Americans anticipate ‘Black Friday’ as the start of the Christmas retail rush, for us the first Saturday after November payday can see over double the amount of shoppers than an average Saturday, a ‘Super Saturday’ you might say!’

“This has been a great year for Liverpool ONE and the significant increase in footfall is very promising as we move towards Christmas. In December last year we saw more than 3.5million visitors to Liverpool ONE and we’re expecting this year to be just as strong.”

This Christmas Liverpool ONE has welcomed new brands such as independent boutique Tessuti, Ted Baker has doubled the size of its offering and Harvey Nichols Food Market Pop-Up had returned for the third consecutive year. Liverpool ONE also continues to celebrate the success of Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols which is moving into its second year in the City.

Chris Bliss added: “Alongside our fantastic retail offer we also have the Ice Festival as an added attraction. The upturn in visits and footfall goes to show that shoppers are still favouring the overall experience of visiting destinations such as Liverpool ONE over online shopping because they want to come and physically buy gifts for their loved-ones, eat at our restaurant, drink in our bars and even skate on our ice rink! Click and Collect services offer those who still want to shop online a helpful addition to their retail needs allowing them to get the best of both worlds.”

Liverpool ONE continues to buck national trends, trading 26% ahead of UK averages, is 99% let or under offer across the 42 acre site and has recently been named Corporate Philanthropist of the Year at the 2013 Spirit of Merseyside Awards for its extensive work in the community.
