Liverpool ONE strides confidently into the new year, continuing the trend of year-on-year growth with 2013 sales overshadowing previous records.

With the arrival of over 20 new brands to Liverpool ONE in 2013 including Tessuti, Byron Burger and pop-ups like Claremont Farm’s Asparagus Patch and Harvey Nichols’ Pop-up Food Market , the style and leisure district has seen a 52% increase in trading since opening in 2008.

Total sales increased by 4% compared to Liverpool ONE’s 2012 figures whilst the average spend per head during 2013 increased by 4.5%. Compared to a national backdrop of 11%, Liverpool ONE also saw a 23% increase in sales within its leisure section with bars and restaurants contributing to Liverpool ONE’s continued performance.

Liverpool ONE’s Estate Director, Chris Bliss said: “Liverpool ONE’s sales and operations during 2013 were outstanding. More than 26 million visitors from across the North West were welcomed to Liverpool ONE and we recorded a 7% outperformance against Northern footfall averages.

“On top of these increases, Saturday, November 30 was Liverpool ONE’s busiest day ever. 2013 represents Liverpool ONE’s fifth year-on-year increase and we’re confident that with this year’s International Festival for Business and The Crabbie’s Grand National just a few months away, 2014 is set to be another exciting year for Liverpool ONE.”

Clothing and accessories remained within the most successful categories of retail with Liverpool ONE’s premium brands including Reiss, Flannels and Hugo Boss, all reporting thriving trade.

The opportunities of multi-channel retailing has seen a large number of retailers within Liverpool ONE embracing online shopping, with currently half of relevant Liverpool ONE retailers offering a click and collect facility and many visitors using the internet as a research tool before shopping at the retail and style destination.

Mr Bliss added: “Shoppers no longer visit to simply enjoy the fantastic offer from our retailers but they come for the whole experience. The success of Liverpool ONE’s roster of events throughout the year including the popular Ice Festival affirm Liverpool ONE’s stance as a unique destination to shop and also spend time with friends and family

“We enter 2014 in a strong position and we look forward to announcing events and new openings that are sure to keep shoppers coming back to enjoy a great retail and leisure experience.”
