Lifeboat called into the Ribble Estuary to secure stranded boat

The coast guard was called out to the estuary at around 3:50am this morning (Tuesday 23rd June) when the 9.5m when the boat’s engine failed and with not enough wind to use its sails it was stranded in the estuary.

The volunteer crew of the Lytham St Annes RNLI Inshore Lifeboat Sally was launched from Holyhead Coastguard to rescue the 2 man crew who were traveling from Preston to Liverpool . The vessel was towed to a mooring at Church Scar, Lytham where the both the boat and the passengers were returned to safety. The passengers were hoping to repair the boat’s engine, fix it and return on the next tide.
