A celebration of all things Lancashire will take place in Southport on Saturday (November 26).

Town Crier Daryl Counsel will lead the offical Lancashire Proclomation on Chapel Street from noon to mark the start of Lancashire Day across the region.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Lancashire said: “The official Lancashire Day is Sunday, November 27, when Lancastrians celebrate their county day throughout the County Palatine from the river Duddon in the north to the river Mersey in the south.

“On this day in 1295 the first elected representatives from Lancashire were called to Westminster by King Edward the First to attend what later became known as ‘The Model Parliament’ and became the start of democracy in this country.

“The Lancashire Day Proclamation will be read out by Town Criers throughout the county to rouse regional pride and at 9pm Lancastrians are invited to join in the loyal toast to The Queen, Duke of Lancaster.
