A taste of the Mediterranean came to King George V as the College celebrated European Day of Languages on 26 September.
Talented students took part in a host of exciting language-based activities including language quizzes, music and games, and enjoyed French and Spanish food.
Fernando Alvarez Gonzalez, Course Leader of Spanish, said, ‘Students really engaged with the activities, and their response was absolutely fantastic.’
Nick King, Course Leader of English Language, added, ‘The students enjoyed discovering linguistic connections across different languages.
‘Language is what unites us and divides us and it was good to see so many students equipping themselves for their futures by engaging with the event.’
KGV has recently notched up a string of academic achievements in French, Spanish and English Language, including Oxbridge success.
This Summer, former Greenbank High School student Rebecca Stephens achieved a top set of results which secured her place to study Modern Languages (French) at Oxford University.
Claire Barré, Course Leader of French, said: ‘Rebecca fully deserved her place at Oxford to read French. She is an outstanding student who made the most of every opportunity at KGV and will achieve great things. We are thrilled for her!
‘85% of our French A level cohort achieved high grades in August – and the European day of languages has contributed to that feeling of high standards and excellence at KGV this year.’
