Kenneth Grisedale, 58, of Hartwood Road, Southport, is due to be sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 22 February for causing death by dangerous driving.
He pleaded guilty to the charge at an earlier hearing on 18th January.
The collision happened at around 6pm on Tuesday 6 January, 2015 on the A570 Southport Road when a Peugeot Horizon and a Toyota Carina were involved in a head on collision.
The passenger in the Peugeot, 46 year old Andrew Birch from Skelmersdale, sadly died in the collision.
