James has lived in Formby near Southport all his life, brought up in a loving and stable home with his family and friends around him. He enjoyed a very happy childhood apart from when he lost his older brother Carl aged 24.

However, no one could have anticipated what was going to happen to James when he went out on the night of 29th December 2009. He was the victim of a series of vicious assaults during the early hours of the following morning.   Battered, bloodied and concussed he ended up in prison. He is now serving a life sentence for murder, a crime he did not commit. He was a victim of assault.
