With the styles gelling to make for an action-packed fight, Dickinson was made to work hard for the win by Stafford. A right hand from Stafford in round three left Dickinson with blood streaming from is eye. Stafford was winning the first three rounds until he sustained an arm injury in round four. From round four onwards Stafford faced an up hill battle with one hand against a strong champion throwing heavier shots that proved the difference.
