Letter to the editor
“As we lead up to Christmas I have noticed the female ‘Big Issue’ seller back in Birkdale Village. Last year I was subjected to a barrage of abuse in a foreign language after I declined on purchasing a magazine.
“An elderly relative of mine also had a similar experience and now avoid the area as she feels that the seller’s tactics make her feel vulnerable.
“At the weekend myself and a friend were subjected to more abuse when we politely declined to purchase a magazine, the seller left her patch and followed us to our car calling us ‘animals’.
“Such behavior is not appropriate for the village’s image, I’m sure will not be the only one who feels the same about this situation”.
