Investigation Launched Following Injury Discharge

Detectives from the force’s Matrix team are today, Thursday 30 June, investigating an injury discharge after a 31 year-old man presented himself at hospital with an injury to his back.

The man attended University Hospital Aintree in Fazakerley at 12.45am today with an injury consistent with a shotgun discharge. The man’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

He told officers that he had been walking through Rimrose Valley Country Park in Litherland when the incident happened.

The investigation is at a very early stage and enquiries are ongoing to identify the exact scene of the incident.

Detectives are today working to piece together the circumstances. The injured man is not currently helping police with their enquiries.
