Investigation following robbery at pub in Aughton

At around 1.30am on Wednesday 1 July, three men armed with hammers entered the Royal Oak pub on Liverpool Road. They made their way to the living quarters of the premises, where a woman and her 13 year old son were sleeping.

The three men entered the woman’s bedroom and tied her up before demanding money from her. The men then fled the scene with a quantity of cash.

DS Diane Higham of South CID said: “This must have been terrifying for the victim and thankfully she was not injured during the incident. We have launched an investigation to identify the three men responsible and I would urge anyone who saw anything or has any information about what happened to contact us.”
