Internationally Renowned Artist to Hold Art Exhibition in Southport January 28th, 2014 admin Latest News Latest Whats On Shares Comments Internationally Renowned Artist to Hold Art Exhibition in Southport Born in Glasgow, Andrew Macdonald grew up on the west coast and got the travel bug at 15, travelling for the next 5 years he settled for a while in London, working in special effects for film and graphic design, he has worked as Head of Design for numerous companies from the UK, Europe and S.E. Asia, as well as working freelance from the UK to Japan. Wherever he has been, motorcycles and the lifestyle have always been at the forefront of his artwork, growing up he was surrounded by them but what mainly kept his attention throughout was the works of David Mann, everyone had Mann’s artwork on their walls from Easyrider Magazine. Always ‘playing’ around with different media to get a certain reaction, Andrew went into specialist paint effects for a while just to learn about the different reactions to certain paints mixed together to achieve effects that no-one had thought of, given the chance and he’ll paint with anything, including coffee! There are loads of biker artists out there but it is a shame that most of them don’t get the recognition they deserve in the mainstream art world, it’s as if there is another dimension that ‘outsider’ folk don’t or refuse to see, but art is art and it takes a special piece to get they’re attention. If it wasn’t for the fact that Andrew’s other work as the UK’s top Johnny Depp lookalike/sound-alike, working all over the world especially as master of ceremonies at bike rallies as Captain Jack Sparrow, no-one would have heard of him, least of all knowing his work as an artist, most of his followers in the bike world know and respect him more as an artist rather than a pirate. Andrew tries his best to paint every day, if he’s not, he’s gigging as JD but he always carries a paintbrush with him just to feel it in his hand. With a background in the creative industries spanning over 20 years he has a rare technique in his artwork, styling from almost photographic to abstract his attention to detail is second to none Painting in most mediums, Andrew prefers acrylics on canvas and uses airbrush for some backgrounds and can produce any image in any style. Andrew is at The Hogfather Motorcycles in Southport from the 6th through to the 11th February 2014 to exhibit some of his original canvas pieces, where prints may be offered, so be sure to drop in for something very different indeed. www.andrewbryantmacdonald.com Submit News Contact us with your community, business or sport news.
