M6 Junction 24 St Helens The exit slip road on the southbound side of the motorway will be closed overnight from 10pm on Tuesday 11 June until 5am on Wednesday 12 June while maintenance work is carried out on the traffic lights. M55 Junction 1 Broughton Lancashire County Council is carrying out improvement work at the roundabout linking Junction 1 of the M55 with the A6 at Broughton to reduce delays at one of Preston’s worst congestion hotspots. The scheme will widen the junctions with the A6, add traffic controls to all junctions, and make it safer to use for pedestrians and cyclists by installing new crossings while retaining the existing subways. The work is expected to be completed by December M56 Junctions 1 with M60 to 3, Baguley, South Manchester A maintenance and repair project is taking place on a motorway bridge over a railway line in South Manchester. The eight-month scheme to repair the bridge – which carries the M56 Sharston Link over the Cheadle Branch railway line – is due to be completed by October. It involves replacing the existing parapets, repairing abutments, installing new expansion joints and bearings maintenance. Drivers are being advised that both the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M56 between Junction 1 with the M60 and Junction 3 at Baguley, as well as junction slip roads, will be closed overnight, from 9pm until 5am, to allow the work to be carried out safely. Clearly-signed diversions will be in place when the road is closed. M56 Junctions 5 to 6 Manchester Airport Overnight lane closures will be in place on the M56 near Manchester Airport while bridge maintenance work takes place. The westbound entry slip road at Junction 6 and the eastbound exit slip road at Junction 5 will also be closed between 10pm and 5am for three nights from Monday 10 to Thursday 13 June M62 Junction 8 Warrington Warrington Borough Council is carrying out work to resurface the roundabout at Junction 8 of the M62 from Monday 10 June which will require some slip road closures. Only one of the four entry or exit slip roads will be closed at any one time, with the work taking place overnight between 9pm and 5am every night apart from Sundays. The project is due to be completed by Monday 1 July. M62 Junction 20 Oldham and Rochdale Work is taking place to upgrade lighting and safety barriers around Junction 20 of the M62 at the interchange with the A627(M). The three-month project is due to be completed by Friday 30 August, ahead of the August bank holiday weekend. Some overnight closures of the eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads will be needed to allow the work to be done safely. Traffic will be diverted to Junction 19 when the slip roads are closed. M65 Junction 7 Accrtington The entry and exit slip roads on the eastbound side of the M65 at Junction 7 will be closed overnight for resurfacing from 10pm on Tuesday 11 June until 5am on Wednesday 12 June. The westbound exit slip road also will be closed overnight for two nights from Monday 10 to Wednesday 12 June. A diversion will be in place. A66 Cockermouth Work to improve drainage on a section of the A66 near Cockermouth is due to start of Sunday 16 June, with a 40mph speed limit in place. The scheme is due to be completed by Tuesday 16 July. A69 Newcastle to Carlisle Work is taking place to resurface seven sections of the A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle, and will include Brampton, Hayton and Warwick Bridge in Cumbria. The project will be carried out between 7pm and 7am, and temporary speed limits will be in place. HGVs will be diverted along the A689 between Junction 44 of the M6 and Brampton when work places place at Warwick Bridge.
