All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible. M56 Junctions 1 with M60 to 3, Baguley, South Manchester A maintenance and repair project is taking place on a motorway bridge over a railway line in south Manchester. The eight-month scheme to repair the bridge – which carries the M56 Sharston Link over the Cheadle Branch railway line – is due to be completed in the autumn. It involves replacing the existing parapets, repairing abutments, installing new expansion joints and bearings maintenance. Drivers are being advised that both the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M56 between Junction 1 with the M60 and Junction 3 at Baguley, as well as junction slip roads, will be closed overnight occasionally to allow the work to be carried out safely. Clearly-signed diversions will be in place when the road is closed. M62 Junction 10 / M6 Junction 21a Croft Interchange A project is taking place to improve the slip roads from the M62 onto the M6 by resurfacing the roads, and installing new lighting and safety barriers. All of the work is being carried out overnight, between 10pm and 5am during the week and until 7am on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The project is taking place in stages and is due to be completed by the end of April. Clearly signed diversions will be in place when slip roads are closed. A66 Dubwath to Thorthwaite There are temporary lights in place along with lane closures in both directions for drainage repair work. The project is due to be completed by Friday 3May.
