All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible. M6 Junctions 20 to 21 Thelwall Viaduct A scheme is taking place to replace expansion joints along the Thelwall Viaduct. When one of the bridges is being worked on, three lanes will run almost normally but with the fourth lane switched onto the opposite carriageway. All of the lanes will be narrowed during the work, with a 40mph speed limit in place. The work is due to be completed in June. M56 Junction 6 Manchester Airport The westbound entry slip road at junction 6 of the M56 will be closed overnight from 10pm on Monday 5 May until 5am on Tuesday 6 May while maintenance work is carried out. A diversion will be in place. M56 Junctions 8 Altrincham to 9 Lymm A project is taking place to install a new concrete safety barrier along a half-a-mile section of the M56. Drainage improvements and resurfacing work will also be carried out, and the scheme is due to be completed by Wednesday 11 June. The motorway will remain open at all times but with a lane three closure throughout the project. Lane two of the carriageway in each direction will also close overnight throughout the project.
