All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible. M6 Junctions 20 to 21 Thelwall Viaduct A scheme is taking place to replace expansion joints along the Thelwall Viaduct. When one of the bridges is being worked on, three lanes will run almost normally but with the fourth lane switched onto the opposite carriageway. All of the lanes will be narrowed during the work, with a 40mph speed limit in place. The work is due to be completed in June. M6 Junction 32 Broughton Interchange A project to reduce congestion around the motorway junction which connects the M6 to the Blackpool-bound M55 is due to begin on Monday 12 May. Short lengths of the hard shoulder will be used to add an extra lane on the approach to and through the interchange – maintaining the two lane link onto the westbound M55 and adding a third lane for those staying on the northbound M6. Some daytime hard shoulder and overnight lane closures will be in place on both the M6 and M55 near the junction. Most of the work will take place during the daytime, with some overnight work. M6 Junction 38 Brough Lane closures will be in place just south of junction 38 of the M6 while maintenance work is carried out to a motorway bridge. The work will take place between Monday 12 and Thursday 15 May, with a temporary 50mph speed limit. M56 Junctions 8 Altrincham to 9 Lymm A project is taking place to install a new concrete safety barrier along a half-a-mile section of the M56. Drainage improvements and resurfacing work will also be carried out, and the scheme is due to be completed by Wednesday 11 June. The motorway will remain open at all times but with a lane three closure throughout the project. Lane two of the carriageway in each direction will also close overnight throughout the project. Drivers will be able to use the hard shoulder as a running lane throughout the work, and a 50mph speed limit will be in place A494 Chester The exit slip roads from the A494 onto the A540 Parkgate Road in Chester will be closed between 8.55am and 10.30am for the Chester Half Marathon on Sunday 18 May. They may continue beyond the expected end time if necessary. A diversion will be in place. Submit News Contact us with your community, business or sport news.
