M6 Junction 32, M55 Junction 1 Preston

Resurfacing work will be carried out overnight on the southbound section of the M6 at Junction 32 which links to the M55 at Junction 1. The work is due to begin on Monday 7 January and will take place between 8pm and 6am. Lane closures and a 50 miles-per-hour speed limit will be in place. It is due to be completed by Wednesday 9 January.

A595 Whitehaven

Work to investigate the cause of flooding along a half-mile section of the A595 around Bigrigg, south of Whitehaven, will get underway on Monday 7 January. The work, which includes cleaning and surveying the drainage system, will take place at off-peak times during the day, between 9.30am and 2.30pm, and temporary traffic lights will be in place. It is due to be completed by Tuesday 22 January.


A595 Hensingham

Safety improvements, including upgrading signs, are being made to the roundabout on the A595 in Hensingham near Whitehaven. The work is being carried out between 8am and 5pm each day, with drivers using narrowed lanes. The project is due to be finished by Friday 11 January.

A590 Dalton-in-Furness to Ulverston

Work is taking place to reduce the risk of flooding along a three-mile section of the A590 between Dalton-in-Furness and Ulverston. Some of the work will require lane closures along short sections with temporary traffic lights in place to guide motorists through the roadworks. The project is due to be completed by Sunday 27 January.

A66 Sandford

Temporary traffic lights will be in place while work is carried out to resurface the road, improve drainage and install a new safety barrier. The project is due to be completed in early February.


M6 Junction 31

Drivers are warned of possible delays in the Fulwood area of Preston around the M6 Junction 31a as two extra lanes are added to the motorway slip road, which takes traffic from the motorway onto Bluebell Way. Traffic signals will also be added to the roundabout. The work is being carried out by the council on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency and is due to be completed by 19 January 2013.
