Illegal Bengali man in Southport Hospital after falling during attempted escape

An illegal immigrant working the Bengal lounge, Union Street, Southport has been left requiring surgery after falling from a roof whilst trying to escape officers during a pre planned immigration raid (Thursday 30 June).

A Bengali man fell from a roof at the rear of the buildings landing in the car park at the rear of the Grand Casino on Lord Street at around 6.45pm.

begali-1Police, ambulance and fire service all assisted immigration officers during the raid.

Immigration officers escorted the ambulance to Southport Hospital. The man required emergency surgery for broken bones sustained in the fall. His condition is not know at the present time.
