Described as ‘the UK’s toughest urban obstacle endurance event’. X-Treme STORM is a nightmarish contest consisting of a punishing 18km run with 35 ruthless obstacles, designed and built by decorated ex UK forces.

Sponsored by www.initto-winit.com and with 21 thrill-seeking entrants, EEC Home Improvements currently have the largest team battling against the STORM and raising funds for two charities, Queenscourt Hospice and Claire House Children’s Hospice. Queenscourt Hospice ensures that life is for living for those with far-advanced and progressive terminal illness by providing symptom control and holistic care for patients and their families, along with educational support for their professional carers, to enable them to stay at home as far as possible.

Claire House Children’s Hospice provides respite, end-of-life and bereavement care for children and young adults with complex medical needs, up to the age of 23. Also there to support the whole family, providing support and counselling for as long as is needed. Diane Keane-Elhadidy, a sales administrator for the company, says “We all realise this will be exhausting both physically and mentally. We each have our own fears about the day, but we are all really looking forward to it.

It’s so important to raise awareness about local charities; they need so much funding to keep up the incredible care they provide. We will have our minds focused on handing over those cheques – that will be a wonderful feeling”.

This x-treme team of 21 is made up of men and women of all ages and all different levels of fitness. All involved have endured months of harsh bootcamp sessions with ‘Go Commando Bootcamp’ which is ran by two ex-army commandos, who have given the team a taster of what’s to come!

Crawling, vertical climbs, immersions into freezing temperatures, electric shocks and extreme surprises are just the start of the challenges ahead for EEC’s X-Treme Team. But our fearless team just say “BRING IT ON!!”
