Helping hand needed for Southport Theatre first ever wedding next May September 9th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Helping hand needed for Southport Theatre’s first ever stage wedding Next May, the Southport Theatre’s stage will be set for a very special seaside wedding, the first of its kind since the theatre opened its doors in 1973. Mr and Mrs Wilson-to-be are planning to put on their own show stopping performance at this unique location, as they are hoping to enjoy a nautical themed civil wedding in front of family and friends who’ll be watching from the stalls. Anne and Nic are all set to marry on Friday 23rd May 2014, and like any other happy couple, they’ve chosen a unique venue to ensure their special day is unforgettable. The bride and groom now face the immense challenge of dressing the stage and they are calling on the support of the local business community to help with their plight. Anne says: “We’ve chosen such a special place for our wedding, and we’re keen to do the theatre proud but we have no idea where to start! We want a seaside/nautical themed celebration and finding props to fit in with our plans is a major challenge with our limited budget.” Stage design is routine for production companies, but this is a one-off unique event needing the personal touch. Anne and Nic are looking for help from local businesses or perhaps even a local college who’d be interested in a set design project – to make their day go down in history as not only the first stage wedding at the theatre, but also the best! Anne a freelance writer, and Nic a maths teacher, are both from the Waterloo area of Liverpool. Nic says: “We are ecstatic to be making history at this stunning theatre. We just need a little help making it happen!” Southport Theatre has held a civil wedding ceremony license with Sefton Council for a number of years, and couples regularly get married in their well equipped function suites but no one has asked for the truly unique experience of a stage ceremony before. Jane Marriott, Sales Executive at Southport Theatre & Convention Centre: “We are delighted that Anne and Nic have chosen our fabulous Theatre stage as the setting for their Wedding Ceremony next year.” Calling all theatre props companies, local business and art colleges looking for a project – the bride and broom need your help! Borrowing anything from a boat, anchor, deck chairs, seaside inflatables, netting etc… would be ideal for setting the scene.
