Here’s an update to the Halifax story: Pictures of the car which was abandoned after the driver lost control and drove it through the window of the London Street bank!

A driver fled the scene on foot after crashing a car into the front of the Halifax bank on London Street.

Emergency services were called out to London Street at around 1.15am (Friday 19 August) following reports a green Daewoo Kalos had been driven into the front of the Halifax.

A police spokesman told OTSNews.co.uk “Merseyside Police attended a report of a road traffic collision in Southport in the early hours the morning.

At about 1.15am, a report was received that a green Daewoo Kalos had been in collision with Halifax bank on London Street, causing damage to a window of the property. No one is believed to have been injured in the incident.

“It was reported the driver of the car made off from the scene on foot.”

A notice in the window of the building society reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to open. We will open as soon as safe to do so.”
