A Grand Reunion of members of Southport beat groups in the Sixties is being organised by Alex Paton, who, as drummer with The Mersey Boys, played in venues all over the North West and toured extensively in Germany in the early Sixties.

The event is being held at Birkdale Conservative Club in Liverpool Road from 7.30pm on Wednesday May 29th. Admission is just £1

Compere for the evening is Ron Ellis and Sunny Lumar will be playing the music of the era.

Southport boasted many young musicians in those early days of rock’n’roll, several of whom went on to fame and fortune and Alex hopes that as many as possible will come along on the night

.      Star Guest on the night is celebrated Merseybeat author, Manfred Kuhlmann, who has travelled over from Germany and will be signing copies of his new book, Beat Waves ‘Cross The Mersey’.   Photo: Alex Paton aged 18.
