Govt want bigger Sefton Cuts June 15th, 2012 ots Latest News Shares Comments Despite having imposed £60 million worth of cuts upon the Council over the past 2 years the Govt have increased the cuts needed by a further 100%. It was always understood that the amount of cuts needed over the next 2 years were approximately £20 million. But now it is understood that this has been increased to £43 million after information was received from Central Govt. Departmental meetings have been held with staff informing them of the Councils bleak financial future and the impact it could have on their jobs and the services they provide.Over 1,500 positions have been lost since the Coalition Govt came to power and if these cuts are imposed this is likely to grow.
