A group of charity fundraisers from Aughton is hosting a special lunch to thank their outgoing Chair.

Brenda Finley has been the Chair of the Aughton Committee for North West Cancer Research Fund (NWCRF) for over a decade, having joined the branch many years earlier. However, due to relocation toYorkshireshe is relinquishing her role.

As an extra special thank you to Brenda for her tireless hardwork, dedication and enthusiasm for fundraising there will be a committee lunch on 25th September. The friends will greet Brenda at 12.30pm. After enjoying a carvery lunch gifts will be presented and speeches made.

Over the years Brenda has organised a range of events including coffee mornings, raffles and fairs, raising thousands of pounds with her Aughton Committee.  

Carolyn Kinsey, Secretary of the Aughton Committee, said: “A tireless fundraiser, Brenda has been a driving force within the committee. We cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for our committee in Aughton. “Not only that but she’s become a close friend and we will all miss her. We wish her the best of luck with her move.”

Anne Jackson, Chief Executive of NWCRF, said: “Brenda has done a fantastic job as Chair of the Aughton committee. Her energy and fundraising effort has been relentless and I want to thank her for all her work over the years.

”1 in 3 of us are affected by cancer and NWCRF funds vital research into the causes of the disease. Almost all of the money raised for the charity is through voluntary means so we are extremely grateful to those, like the Aughton Committee, who give up their spare time to fundraise.”

North West Cancer Research Fund provides funding to support essential cancer research here in the North West of England andWales.
