Global website for suddenly bereaved people gets vital support from Southport law firm

A website created to help ease the suffering of people bereaved by the sudden death of a loved-one has received essential funding thanks to the support of a Southport law firm, based in Cambridge Road.

The initiative, suddendeath.org, provides an online platform for sharing best practice, resources and research developments among professional across the world working with people who are suddenly bereaved.

The website was launched by Brake, the road safety charity, and has been developed thanks to vital support from Birchall Blackburn Law.

Jack Kushner, victim support events and marketing officer at Brake, the road safety charity, said: “Sudden deaths can tear apart families, leaving children without a mum, dad or sibling, parents without a child or individuals without a partner. Without proper support, sudden bereavement can have a catastrophic and traumatic impact; an unexpected death of someone close to you is life-changing.

“Brake has extensive frontline experience of delivering support services to people bereaved by road crashes, one of the main causes of sudden death. Through our Sudden initiative and website, we share best practice in supporting anyone who has been suddenly bereaved in any circumstances. This website is a crucial resource for all professionals supporting suddenly bereaved people, and thanks to kind support from Birchall Blackburn Law, we have been able to develop this essential initiative to ensure that as many people as possible receive a high level of support following a sudden bereavement.”

The Sudden website allows carers and professionals to access global guidance and best practice reports, resources and recordings from Brake seminars, webinars and conferences and information and signposting to other helpful organisations. Visitors can also sign up to a free mailing list for regular updates on the latest news, developments and Brake events.
