A new guided cycling ride for beginners, or less confident cyclists, has launched in the borough.

Organised by Sefton Council, the new afternoon event is an extension of the popular long running Friday morning ride and is a great way to end a busy week or start the weekend.

Starting at the MeCycle Café, Ainsdale, the route, which is guided by a qualified ride leader, will take participants through some of Sefton’s picturesque cycle network whilst steering clear of busy roads.

Open to anyone over the age of 16, the rides are predominately aimed at those looking to getting back into cycling after taking a break, or anyone looking for a short, easy paced ride.

Cllr John Fairclough, Cabinet Member for Locality Services, said: “The instructor led cycle rides are very popular among residents and I am delighted that we have been able to launch a new event to cater to those looking to get back into this healthy activity.

“Sefton is a picturesque borough and is perfect for those looking to get more active and travel in a more sustainable way.

“I am sure the new afternoon event will prove very popular.”

The ride will leave from MeCycle Café, Ainsdale at 1:30pm every Friday. Both bikes and helmets can be provided if necessary.
