G4S Security Van Robbery, Santander, Churchtown, Southport

POLICE are appealing for information following a robbery at Santander, Preston New Road, Churchtown, Southport, at approximately 8.25pm tonight (Tuesday 31 January 2017).

There were no serious injuries involved but this ordeal left the security guards in shock.

Merseyside police are now asking for any witnesses to the incident to come forward. The two men are described as wearing dark clothing.

An investigation is underway, with detectives carrying out forensic, witness and CCTV enquiries.

Detective Inspector Robert Moss said: “This was a vicious assault on the security guard that has left him badly shaken. These are not victimless crimes.

“We have a number of enquiries that are on-going and I would like anyone who saw anything suspicious around the area at the time or anyone with information to contact us. There were people around the location at the time and we would like to speak to them.”
