Four houses and ten apartments get the go-ahead on Granville Road, Birkdale

20th January 2016
Ten apartments and four detached houses are set for a Birkdale site after Sefton Council grant permission.

The 18 Granville Road site was granted planning approval to be turned into “bold and innovative” apartment blocks and houses.

The planning application said: “The scheme represents an excellent opportunity to secure a high quality design and much needed boost to housing land supply”

There is currently a property on 18 Granville Road, which will be knocked down to make way for the two apartment blocks and homes and an empty plot at number 20.

The development is said to adopt a “pragmatic approach” and a landscaping scheme with a front boundary will be included.

ots-granville30 objections were sent to the council from residents on Granville Road, Selworthy Road and Westbourne Road ahead of the council passing planning permission in December.

The objections included the development being “out of keeping with character in the area” due to the height of the two apartment blocks.

Other concerns were over the new buildings being “close to adjoining properties” which would cause a “loss of light and loss of privacy” for residents already in Granville Road.
