Four arrested in Southport drug bust

Four people were arrested after a suspected class A drugs bust in Southport yesterday (Monday 20 February).

Police confirmed officers raided a property on Knowsley Road at around 10.35am and found a quantity of what is believed to be class A drugs and electrical equipment that is suspected to be stolen.

Two 45 year-old men from Southport, a 43 year-old woman and a 40 year-old woman also from Southport were arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply and handling stolen goods.

Jason Rodrigues, 45, of Knowsley Road, Southport has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and heroin. He has been kept in custody to appear before Sefton Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday)

A 45 year-old man, a 43 year-old woman and a 40 year-old woman have been released pending a disposal decision as the investigation continues.

Inspector Andrew Bragg said: “Drug use is a blight on our community. This shows that we will act when we have information about crime and we will take action.

“We need to know what is happening and I would encourage anyone with information to contact us. We do not know who you are if you ring Crimestoppers. Give us the information and we will act.”
