Formby Pool renew ten year lease

Formby residents can rest assured that their beloved Formby Pool remains safe for another ten years as Sefton Council and the Formby Land Trust agreed to renew the lease on the site for another ten years.

Cheif Executive of Formby Pool Trust Mark Ashcroft said he was delighted with the recent news and said it is a welcome announcement.It was reported earlier this year that bosses at the trust were looking into extra ways to make the pool centre more economincally viable and feared that they may have to make job cuts.

However with this latest development, it suggests that staff are now safe.

Following negotiations with both Formby Land Trust and Sefton Council. Formby Pool Trust confirmed that they have been awarded a further 10 year lease to continue to run leisure services for the community of Formby.

Dr Dympna Edwards, Chair of Formby Pool Trust said: “The ten year lease has come about is is very good news. It means that the people of Formby continue to have access to excellent leisure facilities, it safeguards the jobs for the staff who serve in the pool and provides gives a stable foundation for further development.

“The ten year lease has come about through good partnership work with colleagues in Sefton council and Formby Land Trust. I would like to take the opportunity to thank staff, trustees and partners for their hard work and dedication to the support of our loyal customers.”

Mark Ascroft Chief Executive “I am immensely proud of how Formby Pool Trust has developed over the past 9 years. The quality and development of the services provided has seen attendances increase year on year, with people of all ages using our fabulous facility to improve their well-being.

“I believe we have become a real hub for the community for Formby and I look forward to the next ten years.”
