Formby Choral Society raise vital funds March 15th, 2016 jmr jmr Latest News Shares Comments Members of the Formby Choral Society recently held a special fun night to raise vital funds to help contribute to a new lightweight staging for them to perform on. The event, which was held in Holy Trinity Church hall in Formby, saw members of the 125 strong choir ‘braved the stage’ to perform in front o their colleagues and family in a series of various shows, included solo and group acts. It was all in aid of a fundraising campaign to help buy a brand new lightweight, portable stage for the choir to perform on. A spokesperson for the group said: “There was solo singing, duets and humorous sketches as well as performances on piano, violin and tenor horn, several of the players having taken up and practised their instruments for the first time in many months specially for the occasion. “During the interval, cheese and pate platters were provided and there was a fun quiz and a raffle. “The show ended with the audience joining in the choruses with a makeshift shanty group of choir members singing well known songs such as Blow the Man Down, Drunken Sailor and Fields of Athenry accompanied by guitar, ukulele, harmonica and tambourine. The evening was not only a wonderful social occasion but raised over £600 towards the staging equipment. “Now the hard work of rehearsing continues for the choir’s next concert which will take place on April 16.” Submit News Contact us with your community, business or sport news.
