Firefighters Extinguish Fire At Sand Dunes In Formby March 31st, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Firefighters have extinguished a fire on sand dunes and grassland in Formby. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called out to the sand dunes near Alexandra Road at 4.34pm on Easter Sunday 2013. It is believed around 1,000 square metres of sand dunes and grassland were involved in the fire. Firefighters tackled the fire and it was extinguished just before 8pm. Nobody is believed to have been injured in the incident. Five appliances attended the incident along with the Incident Management Unit. Two of the fire appliances were from Crosby Community Fire Station and the other fire appliances were from Formby, Bootle & Netherton and Southport community fire stations.
