UPDATE: Police appeal following fatal collision in Scarisbrick

POLICE are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Scarisbrick yesterday evening.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Tuesday 6 January on the A570 Southport Road near to The Villa café when a Peugeot Horizon and a Toyota Carina were involved in a head on collision.

Andrew Birch (46) died in the collision and two people sustained serious injuries. Their families are being supported by specially trained officers.

It is believed that a BMW saloon car was also involved but failed to stop and drove towards the direction of Southport.

PS John Jennings Wharton of the Road Policing Unit said: “I would urge anyone with any information about the collision to contact us. Someone out there knows who was driving the BMW and I plead to their conscience for them to come forward and report what they know to us as soon as possible.”

Fatal RTC in Scarisbrick

The emergency services were called to Southport Road Scarisbrick at approximately 6.30pm following reports of an RTC (Tuesday 6 January 2015)

Sadly the accident has turned out to be fatal.

The road remains closed to traffic from Pinfold Lane to Hurlston Hall Golf Club. Diversions are in operation until the road re-opens.
