Face lift for Hesketh Drive Bridge (Southport)

Two Cambridge Ward councillors have drawn up plans to extend their long term replacement of railings on Hesketh Drive bridge.

Councillors Pat Keith and Sue McGuire began the work last year and are now in the process of funding the erection of another length of new railings.

“The need for the railings to be replaced was raised with us by residents who, quite rightly, described the original railings as an eyesore as they had rusted and fallen into disrepair,” said Councillor Keith.

“We paid for the work out of Cambridge Ward funds and that is what we’re planning to do for this next phase of the replacements.”

Cllr McGuire said:  “I’m pleased that we are able to extend this project as it’s given the bridge a face lift and  we’ve got rid of some of the unsightly railings .”
