Whopping Southport business rates forces another closure

A lingerie store which open opened in May this year less than a year is set to close its doors on Sunday, December 11.

Aphrodite and Adonis on Eastbank Street in Southport will be closing its Eastbank street store.

The store has blamed high business and rent rates as one of the contributing factors of the closure.

The store pays a whopping monthly business rate of £500 a month before rent and added bills.

The shop annouced on their Facebook page: “We are doing much better online than on the high street and with no relief from Sefton council with their extortionate business rates, it makes no financial sense for us to have a presence on the high street.”

“Maybe in the future, when more help is available for new businesses, we may return. But for now, we want to thank those of you who have supported our dream.”

“Everything in store is now 50% off! All gift vouchers will be honoured, please message us or call for more information. 01704 807610”
