Explosion of Colour at Southport’s first Colour Blast Event.

Excitement is brewing as local sight loss charity, Galloway’s Society for the Blind launch a spectacular new fundraiser, Southport’s first ever Colour Blast.

Hundreds of local people are expected to sign up for the July 10th event which will see participants’ showered head to toe in a kaleidoscope of colours.

The 5k event around Princes Park is not a race and participants of all ages are invited to run, walk, hop, skip or dance their way around the course and through the 5 colour stations where they will be doused head to toe in bright, vibrant coloured powder.

Galloway’s fundraiser, Anna Eddowes-Scott says they hope to draw a huge crowd for this exciting event.

“Colour Runs have become really popular events with all ages and abilities globally over the last few years.  We felt it was time that Southport got its own colour event and joined in the fun! These events are fantastic spectacles for family and friends to be a part of and we can’t wait to see our wonderful supporters covered in paint come July.”

Entries for this unique event are limited and are expected to fill up quickly now that online registration is open.  Participants are encouraged to take advantage of the early bird sign up offer which sees an adult entry costing £15 and under 16’s costing £10.  Registration prices include a white t-shirt and a pack of coloured powder for the colour explosion at the start of the event.

This event is being backed by Natterjack Running owner and Seaside 10k organiser, Darrell Soden.  He is encouraging people ‘not to run for cover’ but to sign up to this explosive new event. Darrell goes on to say that, “5k is a great distance as a first event or for more experienced runners to enjoy. The colour blast events are certainly a super spectacle and loads of fun to be a part of”.
