Edge Hill teams shortlisted for prestigious higher education awards

Edge Hill University has been shortlisted for three prestigious Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards, it was announced today.

The University has been shortlisted in the Knowledge Exchange/ Transfer Initiative of the Year, Outstanding Estates Team and Outstanding Registry Team categories.

Knowledge logoDr Mark Anderson and Edge Hill’s Centre for Data Analysis and Representation (CeDAR) have been shortlisted for their pioneering partnership with software consultants SimCon Ltd and their project to improve the accuracy of weather forecasting and climate modelling. The impact of this work is wide-reaching as the predictions made by this software are used by government and military agencies to inform policy and operational decisions.

Estates Team logoThe Edge Hill Estates team were shortlisted for delivering the design and construction of the Creative Edge Media and Computing building, two phases of high-quality residential buildings, major refurbishments to two natural sciences buildings and the completion of extensive outdoor sports facilities. The team also developed a Green Flag award winning campus, ranked as the safest in the North West, and achieved the Customer Service Excellence (Compliance Plus) award and Fairtrade University and Vegetarian Society accreditation.

Registry Team logoThe Assessment and Awards Team were shortlisted for the Outstanding Registry Team award for their participation in a Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) funded Association of University Administrators Pilot Project to explore ways in which a Continuing Professional Development Framework could be used to carry out a review of the business processes and business systems efficiency in the department. As a result, the team has evolved to be highly efficient, reflective practitioners that embrace change.

The shortlisted teams are now invited to attend a glittering awards dinner and ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London in June, where 800 high profile guests including politicians, senior sector figures and academic and university staff will find out the overall award winners.
