Southport Doorman Denies Manslaughter

Stuart Humphreys is to stand trial for manslaughter after a man he struck outside Desination bar died.

Stuart Humphreys(37) appeared at Liverpool Crown Court Thursday 29 January, in relation to the death of Scott Sheard in 2012.

Humphreys has denied manslaughter and faces a trial starting April 15 at crown court.

Humphreys was released on bail.

Doorman faces trial after Scott Sheard died after incident outside Southport bar

A doorman will face trial over the manslaughter of a man who died following an incident outside a Southport bar.

Stuart Humphreys(37) is accused of hitting Scott Sheard during an altercation at the Destination Bar in October 2009.

Injuries sustained left Mr Sheard with brain damage and was unable to walk, talk or feed himself.

Mr Sheard later died from complications relating to his injuries in January 2012.

QC, David Aubrey, fixed a plea and case management hearing for the 29th January 2015 and a trial starting on April 14th.

The incident occurred outside the Destination Bar in Coronation Walk Southport

Police have cordoned off a area outside the Bar, and forensic detectives are carrying out an investigation at the scene.

The mans injuries are now described as critical

The 24-year-old victim is from Southport.

A 32-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
