Hillside Cider and Sausage Festival

The Hillside Cider and Sausage festival kicked-off in style last night with a  stunning display of morris dancing  by the Southport Swords. A little bit of countryside came to Hillside with the area decorated with hay bales and gingham table cloths in the style of a country barn dance.  The ciders went down very well in the sunshine with the fruit ciders, damson and rhubarb, particularly popular.

The Cider and Sausage festival continues from 12pm today. The Sausage part of the festival comes to the fore with Café SixtySix putting on an outdoor barbeque with an array of tasty sausages. Later on the emphasis moves back to the Grasshopper micropub with folk singers from the Southport Bothy pitching in with a music session. Local musicians are welcome to join in the fun and bring their instruments. The festival continues until 10:30pm at the Grasshopper courtesy of a temporary event notice.

Entry is free and the festival will continue on Sunday if the cider lasts!
