Dance Style Workshops with a difference! April 29th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Professional dancer and choreographer, Stephen Tinsley has joined the team at The Talent Factory in Ainsdale and brings with him new classes and a wealth of experience. Trained at Phil Winston’s Theatre Works , he gained teaching qualifications through all major international dance examining boards ISTD, IDTA and RAD. Stephen doesn’t just bring his knowledge and teaching skills but his tips, tricks and techniques from an industry in which he is still currently working. His professional dancing career has seen him venture worldwide and nearer to home and his reputation as both dancer and all round performer has meant that he has worked continuously for the past ten years and sometimes with teaching contracts at the same time. Stephen will now be teaching a Dance Style Workshop class on Tuesdays at 5pm and this class will focus on all aspects of dance styles and dance performance. The workshop class will aim to introduce students to a variety of styles from hip hop ,lyrical jazz, contemporary, Vaudeville, Musical Theatre, Tap and much more and every six weeks the style changes and the performance delivery changes. The first six workshops are working towards dancing for video, green screen and special effects and how choreography works for camera as opposed to stage. He will also be running the Dance Blast class, a Boys only class for those aged 7 to 11 years at 4pm on Wednesdays. Stephen says “I was delighted when asked to join The Talent Factory. After doing some guest teaching there I knew that it was where I would like to teach. It’s just a great atmosphere and I think the boys, as well as the girls, are already feeling the benefit of a male teacher, as they can see a different type of strength that is required for things like lifts and partner work. A lot of boys are put off dance through peer pressure, even when they love it. Dance is the ultimate in fitness and improves posture, coordination and discipline. I’m still working as a professional dancer in Blackpool so I’m still getting the best of both worlds. It’s great being at the start of a student’s training and seeing that enthusiasm all over again.” Principal Sharon King says, “The new classes that Stephen will be adding to our timetable will enhance what we already offer and will give the students the balanced and realistic opportunity of working with both male and female performance teachers. He isn’t just a fantastic dancer, he’s a super teacher so I’m very proud he has joined my team .” For further information or to book a FREE trial session in one of the new classes please contact The Talent Factory on 07842 117495.
