CUMFYBUS 15A SERVICE GAINS EXTRA BUS STOPS IN BIRKDALE VILLAGE October 16th, 2015 jmr jmr Latest News Shares Comments Photo: Simon Shaw Cumfybus’ new 15A service has been running since early summer from Clive Road through Birkdale Village to and from Town. However because it runs along Alma Road to cross the railway at the Aughton Road crossing, it misses the existing stops in Birkdale Village. Following complaints raised by residents, Birkdale Lib Dem Councillor Simon Shaw has worked with Merseytravel and Cumfybus over recent weeks to find a solution to this problem. Thanks to his efforts, three extra “temporary” stops were installed in early October: 1. Towards town, near Liverpool Road/Welbeck Road i.e. opposite the Post Office. 2. From Town, at end of Alma Road near Upper Aughton Road. 3. From Town, at other end of Alma Road near Spar. “The 15A is a handy hourly service, but as the route missed the existing Village stops this was obviously a major problem,” says Simon. “I’m pleased we’ve got these extra stops in on a temporary, trial basis, and I hope they prove safe enough to make permanent.” Submit News Contact us with your community, business or sport news.
