Crosby Road North, South Road – works

Work has been ongoing for several weeks now around this junction to prepare for the delivery of the main phase of the scheme.  The works on the new boundaries on the eastern side of the road have been completed and the utility services have almost completed their necessary diversion works.

The Councils contractors have now started the main works.  The works will involve widening the junction to provide right turn lanes, which will improve traffic management within the junction. The improvement works will also create significantly improved pedestrian and cycle facilities and new street lighting.

During the works, there will inevitably be some disruption and additional traffic congestion, but the team working on the scheme will try to minimise this as much as possible.

The junction improvement works is expected to be completed by July / August 2016.

Mouchel Consulting are managing the improvement works on site and a local contractor Cambrianway will be constructing the scheme.

If you have any queries or concerns during the works please contact transport.planning@sefton.gov.uk

During the works Haigh Road will have a temporary road closure.  This closure is necessary to allow for the carriageway surface to be renewed.

How will you minimise disruption from the works?

At certain points during the construction of the scheme traffic management will be in place along Crosby Road North such as lane closures.  The Contractor undertaking the works has an agreed Traffic Management Plan which sets out how we will seek to minimise disruption, by planning and timing the works, for example lane closures will be restricted to outside peak hours.

Who is carrying out the works the works?

The works are being constructed by Cambrianway and are being managed by Mouchel Consulting on behalf of Sefton Council.

How much is it costing and who is paying for it?

The scheme is funded by the City Regions Transport Plan for Growth and the Sefton Council Transportation Capital Programme.  The complete scheme is expected to cost £1.3m.
