A Crime Alert message for the residents of North Sefton, Ainsdale and members of Home Watch from Merseyside Police.

Burglaries

In the past fortnight burglaries or attempted burglaries have taken place in the following locations:

Cleveleys Road, Shellfield Road, Guildford Road, Elm Road, Linaker Street, Portland Street, Alexandra Road, Tithebarn Road, Hesketh Drive.

In 2 of the incidents car keys and the vehicles on the property were stolen.

Warning

A male called at the home of an elderly man in the Longford Road area of Birkdale, the male asked him if he wanted to buy a mattress out of the back of his van. The resident went over to the van but told the male he didn’t want to purchase it. However the caller persuaded the householder to let him into the house to measure the mattress in the bedroom.

The male who called at the house is described as white, with dark grey hair and was driving a grey van with writing on the side.

Please be aware of this incident. If anyone has any information please contact the Police on 101.

News from the Community Policing Team

During the evening of 19th March 2017 a burglary occurred in Elm Road , Southport where a Volkswagon Scirocco motor vehicle was stolen The identification of those responsible for the burglary is unknown.

During afternoon of Tuesday 21st March 2017 a Burglary was reported in the Wigan area, the suspects involved were seen in the stolen vehicle outstanding from Elm Road. The vehicle was pursued by the police and 3 occupants from the vehicle were arrested. Charges were brought against the males from the Lancashire Burglary and Unauthorised Taking of a Motor Vehicle from Merseyside.

The suspects appeared at Preston Magistrates Court 23rd March and have been remanded into custody to appear at Bolton Crown Court on 19th April 2017.

In the first two weeks of March 15 offenders have been arrested in connection with burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles in our area. A number of investigations are on-going.

Following the theft of a pedal cycle in Ainsdale the owner has recognised it being advertised on a social media selling site. A 37 year old male has been arrested and charged with handling stolen goods.
