Crews Respond To Fire In Flat, Southport

Crews from Southport and Formby community fire stations responded to a smoke alarm activation in the early evening of Sunday, March 23.

On arrival they found a small fire in the living room of a ground floor flat had been extinguished by an elderely male.

Smoke alarms were present and activated.

The elderly male was treated at the scene by paramedics and later taken to Southport & Formby District General Hospital.

Firefighters checked the fire was extinguished and carried out a Home Fire Safety Check while at the property.

Two fire appliances from Southport Community Fire Station and a fire appliance from Formby Community Fire Station attended the call-out.

Firefighters had left the scene by 8pm.
