Councillor calls for tough actionon culprits over renewed dumping in Back Bath Street, Southport April 1st, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments Tony Dawson, Lib Dem councillor for central Southport, continuing his battle against landlords, tenants and fly-tippers who are cluttering the town’s streets with rubbish. He has asked the Director of Environment to take action to clear the streets of these items in Back Bath Street (photo). Councillor Dawson has asked the Council’s cleansing and environment chief officers to not just clear up but to come down hard on the culprits to discourage others. He told them: “While I would welcome the Council sending a skip down there to get this mess cleared away, the person(s) responsible for this mess must not be allowed to get away with it ‘scot-free’. Can you ensure that the Council’s officers find out (whether landlord, developer or tenant) who is responsible for this and take appropriate measures – and publicise what you do?” Cllr Dawson is also concerned about the growing extent of bins being left on the pavements, especially since many of the apartment blocks in the centre of town now have their small gardens cluttered with brown euro-bins on top of the grey ones.
