Council root out problem but leaf defeated!

Contractors have failed to root out a health and safety hazard on Mallee Crescent – instead choosing to put the issue out of sight and out of mind!

A number of possible fixes were identified but bosses decided to ‘stick’ with the cheapest issue – although it won’t please frustrated homeowners.

Tree roots on the road have broken through the paving and have seen a number of elderly residents trip and hurt themselves in recent weeks.

However when council contractors came to the site to fix the issue, they were left stumped!
So out came the tarmacadam and some not-so-clever artistry later the root was simply covered over and smoothed.

There remains a huge bump in the road but it’s hoped this quick fix will stop bumps on the head!

A council spokesperson said the roots will continue to be a growing problem until further fixes can be carried out.
